About our tulips

Tulips in Mallorca: the winter flower

The tulip is the only cut flower that stays alive in the vase. It grows another couple of centimetres after cutting, curves towards the light from the window and changes shape every morning: the bouquet you leave at night is not the one you find the next day. People who love tulips love them for exactly that.

Their season is winter, and that is when we work with them: firm, thick-stemmed and in the full colour range. Some weeks we get them a little beyond that window, but we don't take it for granted: if you need them for a particular date, write to us before ordering and we will confirm what we have.

When are tulips available?
In winter, which is their season. Some weeks they also come in outside that window, but we don't promise it in advance. If you want them for a specific date, ask us before ordering.
Why do the stems bend?
Because the tulip keeps growing and turns towards the light: it isn't wilting, it is alive. If you prefer it to stay upright, keep it away from the window and use a tall vase that supports the stem.
How long does a tulip bouquet last?
Five to seven days. They need less water than most flowers: a couple of inches in the vase is enough, changed every two days, trimming a centimetre off the stem.
Which colours are available?
In season, almost all of them: white, cream, peach, pink, red, purple. Double and parrot varieties come and go week to week. Tell us the palette you want and we will match it.
Can they be mixed with other flowers?
Yes, although tulips look wonderful alone in a single-colour bouquet. Combined, they work beautifully with ranunculus and fine foliage; alongside very large flowers they lose their presence.

Tulip bouquets as a gift

A single-colour tulip bouquet is among the most elegant and least predictable things you can send in winter: not the usual rose, and yet it never misses. See the rest in bouquets and monobouquets.

Tulips for Valentine’s Day

They are the natural alternative to the red rose, and February falls squarely in their season. If you want to step off the cliché without taking a risk, tulips are the safe bet. See our suggestions by occasion.

What to order when tulips are out of season

Hydrangea and lilies are available all year, peonies are at their best in May and June, and sunflowers arrive in summer. All of it together in seasonal flowers.
