About our peonies

Peonies in Mallorca: at their best in May and June

No flower creates as much anticipation. A peony arrives closed, the size of a walnut, and over two or three days opens until it has tripled in volume: that change, happening on the recipient's table, is half the gift. The other half is the feel of it, that absurd quantity of paper-thin petals.

You can order them all year, but the month matters. May and June is when they arrive in their best form and with the full range of colours. Outside that window we bring them in as imports: just as fresh, but the price rises and the choice narrows. We tell you before you order, not after.

Are peonies available all year?
Yes, but it helps to know which month you are in. May and June are their peak: better quality, more colours and a better price. The rest of the year we work with imported peonies, freshness guaranteed, though they cost more and come in fewer varieties.
Why do they arrive closed?
Because that is how they travel undamaged and last longer at home. Peonies are cut in bud and open in two or three days with clean water. If you want them open on the day, tell us when ordering and we will pick the most advanced.
What if it doesn't open?
Almost always a matter of patience and water. Trim the stem at an angle, change the water daily and keep it somewhere warm, not cold. If a head still refuses, write to us.
How long does a peony last?
Five to seven days from arriving in bud. The more open it arrives, the less time it has left — which is exactly why we deliver them closed.
Which colours are available?
It depends on the week and the time of year. In season you will find pink in several intensities, white and coral; out of season the range narrows. If you need a specific colour for a date, write to us before ordering.

Peony bouquets as a gift

Peonies for a wedding or an event

If your date falls in May or June, peony is the best decision you can make: it is when they are at their best and at their best price. Outside that window we can still do it, but it is worth talking through colour and budget first. Write to us early.
